What is a good uplifting Bible verse for a teenage girl?

My teenage daughter is struggling with depression and I would like to find some good bible verses for her to read and study.What is a good uplifting Bible verse for a teenage girl?
Good idea. Regular Bible reading will help to fill her mind with consoling words and sustaining thoughts. It's comforting to know how God views those who get depressed. ';A heart broken and crushed, O God, you will not despise.'; (Psalm 51:17)

Coping now: Prayer is vital. Even if you cannot fully express the depth of your feelings in words, Jehovah knows what you are trying to say. (Romans 8:26, 27 states: ';In like manner the spirit also joins in with help for our weakness; for the [problem of] what we should pray for as we need to we do not know, but the spirit itself pleads for us with groanings unuttered. Yet he who searches the hearts knows what the meaning of the spirit is, because it is pleading in accord with God for holy ones.';

Reflecting on the future helps us to cope too:

It's good to reflect on God’s new world and the time when “no resident will say: ‘I am sick.’” (Isaiah 33:24)

Also, a promise that will be fulfilled in the near future, Revelation 21:4 ';And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”

Here is an article that I think you and your daughter will enjoy. http://www.watchtower.org/e/20040108/art…

It discusses depression and how to deal with it.What is a good uplifting Bible verse for a teenage girl?
';I think, therefore I am'; in it's true meaning: If you think sad thoughts, you will be sad. If you think mad thoughts, you will be mad. If you think happy thoughts, you will be happy.

Think about going to prison for life without the possibility of parole.

Now think about winning the lottery and living out your life in the Bahamas or Hawaii or where ever it is you love the most.

See it really is the thought that counts, you may not be able to change people, places, things or circumstances but you do have control over what you choose to focus on.

Rome may not have been built in a day, but it wouldn't have been built at all if everyone had negative thinking about building it.

Ph'p:4:8: Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things. ♥ † ♥ ☺
For I know the plans I have for you declares the LORD plans to prosper you and not to harm you. pland to gigve you a hope and a future

Jerimiah 29:11

I keep this verse handy because it reminds me that even though im having a hard time right now i know im going through it for a reason and some day i will know why. Everything happens for a reason and it will benifit us in the long run.
I recommend contacting Jehovah's Witnesses and asking them for copies of their Young People Ask books. These have excellent chapters on depression and helping young people, which include the experiences of real teenagers. It was very encouraging to me growing up.

The most essential things for depressed people is having someone to confide in- such as older ones in the Christian congregation or their parents. (Proverbs 17:17)

Also very important is prayer. David wrote- ';Throw your burden upon Jehovah himself, and he himself will sustain you.'; (1 Peter 5:7) If her heart condemns her, she can be assured that 'God is greater than her heart and knows all things.'; 1 John 3:20.

And of course she may be helped by having her depression treated medically or herbally.
Psalm 37.10, 11, 29

And just a little while longer, and the wicked one will be no more; And you will certainly give attention to his place, and he will not be. 11 But the meek ones themselves will possess the earth, And they will indeed find their exquisite delight in the abundance of peace.

The righteous themselves will possess the earth,

And they will reside forever upon it.
Before I offer some texts to read, see if you can find the book ';Conquering the Beast Within: How I Fought Depression and Won...and How You Can, Too'; by Cait Irwin. It is the inspiring story of a teenage girl's struggle with depression. I love the Bible and what it says but sometimes a doctor's help is needed also. Pray for God to direct you in how to best help your daughter but most of all she will need your unconditional love and support.

Now some verses:

Jeremiah 17:14

Proverbs 17:22

Psalm 42:11
34. Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be under obedience, as also saith the law.

35 And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.
Exodus 21:20-21 ';If a man beats his male or female slave with a rod and the slave dies as a direct result, he must be punished, but he is not to be punished if the slave gets up after a day or two, since the slave is his property.';
The Bible is against women so how will a Bible verse make her happy.

How about: You're an awful person and a sinner and you will perish in hell unless you accept Jesus as your savior.
I like Joshua (old testament) chapter one, verse 9

';Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.';
Ecclesiastes - increaseth knowledge so increaseth sorrow. Keep her stupid she will be happy. Or maybe she should increase her knowledge and she will discover why she is depressed.
Deuteronomy 21:18-21 just change son to daughter
Perhaps it is your insistence in quoting the Bible to her that is making her depressed.
Maybe she's depressed because you keep pushing the Bible on her.
Psalms 137:9 tells you how you can be happy.
There is Psalm 37:3-4 trusting and Isaiah 61:2-3.
Teenage girls were not ';uplifted'; in the Bronze Age.
';But grow in grace, and in the knowledge

of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To

him be glory both now and for ever. Amen.';

-2Peter 3:18
