Where would a good place to be for 2 early-teenage girls to go in florida?

We are considering Orlando, Florida, but they also want to go to the beach of course ! Yet, the want to have other attractions than the beach. Two 13 year old girls! Any help ? I like to go for 7-8 days and be in Orlando for some and the gulf coast for the rest - I like the stretch from Clearwater to St. Pete's beach and then Sarasota and Fort Myers Beach area.Where would a good place to be for 2 early-teenage girls to go in florida?
Orlando has the most commercial entertainment! Get on US1 and head south, it's like one long city with ocean and business, or you can do it on the gulf side and old town and history.
